Parish Social Ministry

What if...

you could help someone who is struggling by not only meeting some material needs, but also give them Jesus?

This Christmas, we aim to do that.  Working with the local Community Holiday Assistance Program, we are developing a list of families that are struggling as we go into the holiday season. If you know of anyone in need, especially within our parish, the deadline to apply is November 4.

Applicants share a list of wishes and needs, which we then try to fill. These items will stock the shelves our “holiday shop.”

We invite specific outreach recipients to “shop,” come see our Christmas pageant, enjoy refreshments, music, and decorating. And we hope they will encounter Jesus while they’re here.

Faith Formation classes will be taking a major role in this.
We can use your help, too.  Sign up in the Gathering Area or email faithform@allsaintsccnc.org.

Mission Statement

The mission of Parish Social Ministry is to assist the parish of All Saints Catholic Church in accomplishing the spiritual and social mission of the Catholic Church.  In its roles of servant, advocate, facilitator and convener, parish Social Ministry acts in the parish and community-at-large to heighten awareness of social justice issues through communication and education, to identify unmet needs, and to promote solutions to meet those needs.

Parish Social Ministry serves as an umbrella resource for parish ministries/organizations who advocate for social and economic justice as well as those addressing immediate and emergency needs.

Disaster Relief and Response

Addresses the needs of the parishioners and community whose lives are adversely impacted after disasters, both natural and man-made.

Prison Ministry

A ministerial effort to provide spiritual and sacramental support to Catholics incarcerated in local jails or state/federal prisons in southeastern North Carolina. Involvement in this ministry can include prayer support, financial support, and volunteer support to visit or participate in weekly Catholic services at local facilities.  It may also include participation in Kairos, an ecumenical Cursillo based program. For information on prison ministry efforts within the Cape Fear Deanery or for information on Kairos, contact Will Evans at 910-328-4663.

Catholic Advocacy

Works to encourage parishioners to register with https://catholicvoicenc.org/    The nonpartisan voice of North Carolina’s Bishops.  This website operates under the authority of the state’s two Catholic Bishops to keep Catholics apprised of legislative matters before the General Assembly and Congress.  It provides contact information for elected officials to ensure that a Catholic viewpoint is taken into consideration.  For more information see also:  http://Catholicvote.org/
